A2Z Project: Improving Regional Food Fortification

The aim of the A2Z Project is to support the different components of food fortification programs, creating the necessary conditions for scaling up safe, effective and self-sustainable programs for delivering high impact interventions to prevent or reduce illness, malnutrition and mortality among the most vulnerable members of the population (e.g. newborns, infants, children under five, and women of reproductive age).

The specific objectives will be to promote:

  • National application of regional harmonized policies and guidelines in food fortification;
  • Incorporation of food industries in the national food fortification programs;
  • Strengthen quality control and assurance practices of relevant food industries;
  • Improvement of governmental enforcement and supervision capabilities; and
