Implementing Partners
These partners work with USAID/East Africa to achieve its objectives in Djibouti:
- Associates for Rural Development Inc (ARD) – Plans, designs, implements, and evaluates projects, and conducts research in governance and institutional development; natural resources and the environment; agriculture and rural development; infrastructure, especially water supply, sanitation and environmental health; and information and knowledge management.
- Chemonics - By promoting meaningful change around the world Chemonics helps people live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives.
- Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA) - promoting regional integration through trade and developing natural and human resources.
- East and Central Africa Global Competitiveness Hub – One of four trade hubs established by USAID to assist African businesses in taking better advantage of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)
- Family Health International (FHI) - One of the largest nonprofits organizations working to improve lives worldwide through research, education and services in family health.
- IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Center (ICPAC)
- Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) – Organization focused on drought control and development initiatives
- International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH) – Established as a nongovernmental, nonprofit, charitable organization to reduce hunger and poverty, empower the local community by raising the standard of literacy, and to foster cultural, social, and economic relations between Americans and Africans, particularly those Americans who are of African decent.
- John Snow Incorporate (JSI) – Public health research and consulting firms dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.
- Save the Children USA – The leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world.
- The American Institute for Research (AIR) - One of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world.
- UNICEF – UNICEF’s work in Djibouti focuses on priority interventions: Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD) (including Parental Education, Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses and Safe Motherhood), Girls' Education, HIV/AIDS (including prevention amongst youth and PMTCT) and Protection.
- World Health Organization (WHO) – The United Nations specialized agency for health.
