USAID/East Africa: From the American People

Program

Food for Peace

Addressing food security crises in Eastern and Central Africa

Overview

The Food for Peace (FFP) Program started fifty years ago, when millions of tons of food from the rich harvests in America were sent to the people of post-war Europe, helping to rebuild their lives and economies. Since then, Food for Peace has adapted to changing needs around the world, currently focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa and the Southeast Asian sub-continent. Despite changes in geographical focus over the years, the objectives have remained the same; fighting hunger and malnutrition and promoting sustained economic growth and development.
