|
Thursday, February 26, 2009
USAID funded Hammar Jab Jab school in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Despite the on-going conflict and insecurity in Mogadishu, a USAID funded program recently completed construction of the Hammar Jab Jab School in Mogadishu, Somalia. The school has 22 classrooms, a laboratory, administrative block, water and sanitation facilities, and will have access to the nearby Hammar Jab Jab Maternal and Child Health Centre.
It is expected that the school will provide education opportunities for about 1760 children, including about 850 girls. USAID is working with implementing partner UNICEF on handing the school over to local authorities and the community.
